That’s it kiddos, end of the road.
It’s hard to put into words the impact that Y! Live had for all of us. What started out as an experiment in live broadcasting, resulted in not only some revolutionary moments, but some pretty funny ones as well.

If there is one thing that I love about the social web, is its ability that it has to bring people together. We have been lucky enough to act as a platform for countless stories of love and friendship that might have never began if not for Y! Live. Heartbreaks, laughter and battles all played out, in real time, live, streaming to the world, in front of everyone to see.

I want to thank you all so much for sharing your lives with us, and making these last 9 months totally epic. I speak for the entire gang when I say that this project will be truly be missed, and as for myself, I want everyone involved to know how honored I feel to have been lucky enough to be a part of this experience.

So with that, I encourage you to take a stroll down memory lane and look back on Y! Live, NAO!

For the first time in 9 months today I actually had a genuine use for live - and I discover it’s closed.

A great shame, it was a cool service.

Meh, it was a nice service. Its too bad it died right after getting all the mod stuff put in. I was not around for the last day but I’d be very interested to know if Y! live closing had anything to do with the economy and if we can expect it to come back later.
Another sad thing was the fact that I took the time to learn the API for the first time ever and its dead now…boohoo and stuffs.

What Yahoo! calls an “experiment” OTHER sites such as BlogTV & StickAM call THEIR BUSINESS.

If Yahoo! was so concerned about Yahoo! Live surviving through the recession, they HAD a chance to DO SOMETHING about it besides simply shutting it down. They could’ve REWRITEN THE RULES of the Social Networking & Viral Video landscape whereas if you wanted to (As YouTube likes to put it) “Broadcast Yourself”, they could’ve a small monthly fee (Like they do with their web hosting) in order for you to do so. You know - PAY TO PLAY.

But what did Yahoo! do instead? Simple. THEY CHICKENED OUT. Not only did they chicken out, they PASSED UP on the MINT they *could’ve& and *would’ve* made had they kept Yahoo! Live going. Now, they’ve just opened the floodgates to YouTube and all the other well established sites out there to do their thing.

Unforceable TOS? The admins running around like hall monitors in high school? I don’t buy that argument one damn bit. In fact, IT IS A LOAD OF CRAP. The simple fact is that Yahoo! was NEVER serious about Social Networking OR having a Viral Video site to begin with. THEY NEVER HAVE BEEN (And now THEY NEVER WILL). Them’s just da facts folks.

Although my site will still remain on Geocities (Which Yahoo! Live would’ve been a nice compliment to BTW), Yahoo! Live WILL NOT be missed by me. GOODBYE Yahoo! Live.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve gotta schedule a show on another site.

I just learned about this and it is very sad news. Although I hadn’t been on in a while, I had a really good time on YLive and made some good friends. With the recent changes at Yahoo! to a more social platform across the board, I find it crazy they just abandoned this. I guess that’s a sign of why yahoo is in the position they are.

another cool service seems to be http://www.peoplezapping.com
It is also in its beta state but you can broadcast and chat via live video

Would be a shame to see all those live video places go out of business.

Why not placing a message explaining that the website is not longer available?
